Colerne Community Land & Asset Trust

The Colerne Community Land & Asset Trust (Colerne CLT) was launched in 2021, soon after our Parish Neighbourhood Plan became part of local planning law. The Plan may be viewed at https://www.colerne-pc.gov.uk/colerne-parish-council-neighbourhood-plan/. The main aim of the CLT is to help deliver the local housing policies of the Neighbourhood Plan and to preserve the essential community assets that contribute to the quality of life in this rural parish.

The Neighbourhood Plan notes the lack of affordable housing in the Parish and the clear need for its provision. Following publication, a group of volunteers contacted the National Community Land Trust Network and also the Wiltshire Community Land Trust, which is an umbrella organisation dedicated to the promotion and implementation of CLTs in Wiltshire. As a result of the advice received, a Steering Group was formed and Colerne CLT was officially registered and launched as a Community Benefit Society. Membership of the CLT is open to all Colerne Parishioners from the age of 18 years.

Colerne CLT is legally registered as a Community Benefit Society (CBS) with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The CBS (Company Number 8563) is run by local parish volunteers for parish people. The CBS registration documents, its governing rules and annual financial returns may be found on the FCA website at https://mutuals.fca.org.uk/Search/Society/30844.
